RCMP MUSICAL RIDE: HOSTED BY WELCA

Last night, I had the chance to attend the RCMP Musical Ride at Whitemud Equine Learning Centre (WELCA) in Edmonton, AB. A rare and iconic Canadian performance in the heart of the river valley. Golden light showered WELCA’s green fields as 32 active duty RCMP riders and their Hanoverians moved in sync, performing traditional cavalry drills set to music.

It was a hot one, but that didn’t stop the crowds from showing up for the RCMP Musical Ride at WELCA. Alongside the main event, there were carriage driving demos, vaulting, hobby horse races, and more. WELCA is one of the only remaining stables that lies within the heart of Edmonton, facilitating access to horses and equestrian sport for folks of all skill levels.

If you’re curious about horses or ready to saddle up, check out WELCA’s programs—from Learn to Ride summer camps to community events, there’s something for everyone. Visit their website to learn more and get involved with Edmonton’s vibrant equestrian community: https://www.welca.ca/.
