Remembering Amy.

On July 4th 2025, my beautiful friend Amy died after years of the ebbs + flows of battling cancer. She passed peacefully surrounded by love. I was lucky enough to photograph Amy and her family many times over the years. I asked Amy’s husband, Anthony if it would be ok for me to take a few photos at Amys celebration of life. Amy had preplanned so many of her wishes, and with a tight circle of friends and family to help execute those wishes: we gathered on a hot and thunderstormy August afternoon.

I am still reeling over the loss of Amy. It’s truly unfathomable to watch a friend be ripped away from her family so early. Though Amy and I officially met during our high school years, we grew closer though motherhood. Having kids very close in age, and early on in our own groups of friends. We grew quite candid about life, growing as mothers, and loss and grief.

Watching my friend, this tiny but fierce and passionate human, go through one of the hardest things life can offer with so much grace. It pains me to know such a wonderful and caring person can no longer be with us. Amy truly lived her life to the fullest. She wrote stuff down, planned the events, DID the damn thing. She asked strangers to take a photo. She still spread kindness to others even in some of her hardest moments.

Happiness can’t wait. Thank you Amy, for knowing us.

Some of Amys closest friends participated in Run On 2025 raising funds for Amy’s House, which offers free accommodations for families who must travel to Edmonton for cancer treatments. Part of Amys last wishes included supporting this organization.

I’ll be updating the Remembering Amy gallery with more photos as time goes on. Please email me if you have any you’d like to add. Thank you to Krysta Shippelt and Sara Coulter Photography for sharing your shots of Amys family.
